She has performed at major international venues including Milton Court at the Barbican Centre in London, Teatro Nacional (Costa Rica), Ateneo de Madrid, Taipei National Concert Hall (Taiwan) and Hangzhou Grand Theater (China), among others.
Born in Cartagena (Spain), Isabel Martínez studied at the Conservatorio Superior Óscar Esplá in Alicante, where she was awarded the Premio Extraordinario under Ignacio Rodes. She later graduated with Distinction in the Master of Performance programme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London under Robert Brightmore. She also holds Master’s degrees in Classical Guitar Performance and in Music Research and Performance from the University of Alicante and the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante.
Her debut album Noche Andaluza (2019) was met with critical acclaim: “This disc is most enjoyable for both the quality of the music selected and the sheer musicality of the performer, who also enjoys the highest technical skills.” (Ray Picot, ILAMS). Her recordings on YouTube have also reached millions of views. Isabel Martínez performs regularly at international festivals and several contemporary works have been dedicated to her. Alongside her concert activity, she teaches at the Conservatorio de Música de Cartagena, Spain.
Isabel Martínez performs on a Paco Santiago Marín guitar and uses Augustine strings exclusively.
