Carmesí Guitar Duo
Carmesí Guitar Duo is formed by Spanish guitarists Paola Requena and Isabel Martínez. After establishing international careers as soloists and performing on stages worldwide, they began performing together, discovering a strong artistic affinity and a shared musical vision. The duo made its debut at the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante (ADDA) in 2020 and has since appeared in concerts in Spain, Sweden, Russia, France and Morocco.
Both artists were born in Cartagena (Murcia, Spain) and studied with Prof. Ignacio Rodes at the Conservatorio Superior Óscar Esplá in Alicante, where they were awarded the Premio Extraordinario.
Paola Requena is a prizewinner in numerous international competitions, including the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition (Benicasim), Printemps de la Guitare de Charleroi (Belgium), the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition (La Herradura), and the Comarca del Condado Competition (Jaén), among others. She graduated from the École Normale de Musique de Paris under Alberto Ponce and maintains an active presence in European concert series. Since 2007 she has appeared in recordings and broadcasts for Spanish television, including TVE1, TVE2, Clan, Antena 3 and Telecinco.
Isabel Martínez performs regularly at international festivals and has appeared at venues including Milton Court at the Barbican Centre (London), Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica, Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall (Yerevan), Hangzhou Grand Theater (China) and Taipei National Concert Hall (Taiwan), among others. She graduated with Distinction in the Master of Performance programme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She also holds Master’s degrees in Performance and in Research and Performance from the University of Alicante and the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante. Alongside her concert activity, she teaches at the Conservatorio de Música de Cartagena (Murcia, Spain).
